Is creatine bad for you?

Is creatine bad for you? I've heard that it's an effective supplement for bodybuilding but I'm nervous about taking any supplements which might have harmful side effects.

I've taken creatine for the past 3 years and have had no health problems or negative side effects whatsoever. You have to drink a ton of water and stay away from things that dehydrate your body such as alcohol, coffee, etc.

Rich, as I understand, there are no studies or research that say that creatine is bad for you, no even in long term use. Like Jaybird said, you have to make sure you drink plenty of water because if you don't it suppouslly gives you cramps.
